The management of Lake Lanier has announced all day use parks, except for Buford Dam Park, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will open to the public Saturday in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

All restrooms at currently accessible areas also will be open, according to a corps Facebook posting. However, beaches, shelters, playgrounds and campgrounds will continue to be closed out of health concerns stemming from the COVID-19 outbreak. (The corps earlier announced that campgrounds would reopen June 1.)

“While the Lanier Project Management Office will remain closed to the public, staff are working and phone calls will be answered,” the corps said, adding a reminder for everyone “to practice social distancing and avoid crowded parks and facilities.”
