LaGrange mayor, Council sworn into office

The nayor and City Council members of LaGrange were sworn into office earlier this week.

Mayor Jim Thornton was sworn in for a second four year term.

District 1 City Councilman Dr. Tom Gore was sworn in for his second four year term, his fourth four year term overall.

District 1 City Councilman Jim Arrington was sworn into office for his first four year term.

District 2 City Councilman Nathan Gaskin was sworn into office for his first four year term.

Councilwoman Norma Tucker and Councilman Nick Woodson decided not to seek re-election.

Tucker served the city for 12 years. Woodson served for 20 years.

The Board also elected District 2 Councilman LeGree McCamey as Mayor Pro Tem, to assume mayoral duties in the event of the mayor’s absence.

The newly elected/re-elected city councilmembers’ term will expire January 2022.
