One person was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash on the Downtown Connector, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Two cars were traveling south on the Downtown Connector about 2 p.m., when one driver switched lanes into the path of the other car.

That car, unable to stop, struck the first car, the GSP said.

The driver of the first car, who had to be rescued after being trapped inside, died on the way to Grady Memorial Hospital.

No other details were released.
