The Mount Vernon Highway bridge over Ga. 400 in Sandy Springs is scheduled to be closed overnight from Sunday, June 3, through Friday, June 8, as crews do utility work as part of the reconstruction of the nearby Ga. 400/I-285 interchange at the top end of the Perimeter.

Construction partners of the Georgia Department of Transportation will close Mount Vernon from Barfield Road/Mercedes Drive to Peachtree Dunwoody Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the affected nights, GDOT announced.

The detour for eastbound drivers on Mount Vernon is to turn left on Barfield/Mercedes to Abernathy Road, right on Abernathy back to Mount Vernon Highway, and left on Mount Vernon. Westbound drivers should turn right on Abernathy, left on Barfield/Mercedes, and right on Mount Vernon.

Within the closure area, motorists traveling north on Crestline Parkway can turn right on Mount Vernon and exit the construction zone.

The exact dates of the closure may change due to weather and other factors, GDOT said. Information: https://bit.ly/2jfU8S7
