Trackside Grill restaurant in historic downtown Kennesaw has secured a $140,000 loan to renovate and expand the eatery located along South Main Street.

The expansion will include room for more seating and a new full bar inside the restaurant, and a walled-in patio with a fireplace outside. The renovations will also include a rooftop deck area, said Bob Fox, Kennesaw’s community development director.

Restaurant owners, Brett and Laura Olszeski, are responsible for paying back the loan from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. No city money will be used in the project.

This summer the city completed a pedestrian underpass beneath the railroad tracks and a pedestrian plaza on property adjacent to the restaurant’s parking lot. That project was completed as part of the city’s Livable Communities Initiative to provide safe pedestrian passage between the east and west sides of downtown.
