This week's Atlanta a.m. early morning feature is about the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park where visitors enjoy the paths through the site of a bloody Civil War that ended July 2, 1864.

Chief Ranger Lloyd Morris, 49, has been station at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park for almost eight years. He said he got interested in National Park Services during his sophomore year in college.

Visitors to the park can see artillery atop Kennesaw Mountain. The National Battlefield Park commemorates the 1864 Atlanta Campaign.

Early morning hikers walk past picket post and rifle pits along the base of the mountain trail at Kennesaw Mountain.

Wild flowers bloom at the summit of Kennesaw Mountain. The park offers short walks and long hikes starting at the visitor center, the round-trip distances are two miles, five miles, 10 miles and 16 miles.
