A Kennesaw grandfather is flying high after winning half a million dollars from the Georgia Lottery with an Atlanta Falcons game scratch-off ticket.

Donald Stewart Jr., 67, realized his fortune after purchasing the ticket at a Publix supermarket on Bells Ferry Road in Kennesaw.

Stewart, a grandfather of four, scratched off his ticket in his car.

“I went numb. I couldn’t believe it,” Stewart said in a press release issued by the Georgia Lottery. “This is out of the ordinary. It’s surprising.”

Retired from Target as a supervisor, Stewart said he plans to save his winnings as part of his retirement fund.

In addition to his four grandchildren, he and his wife, Kathriana, have four adult children.
