Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter has once again extended his deadline for defendants in the Atlanta Public Schools test-cheating case to enter into negotiated pleas.

The new deadline is Feb. 17. So far, 18 defendants have pleaded guilty and have been sentenced to probation and ordered to perform community service. Sixteen defendants, including former Superintendent Beverly Hall, remain charged in a racketeering conspiracy, and four or five of them have been engaged in plea negotiations, prosecutors have said.
