Judge denies defense bid to toss Hemy Neuman statement to police
DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Gregory Adams ruled this week against Hemy Neuman's lawyers, who wanted the alleged killer's statement to police tossed out.
In another victory for the prosecution, Adams also refused to dismiss several search warrants procured by Dunwoody police, including one for the home Neuman formerly shared with his estranged wife.
Neuman is charged in the Nov. 18 slaying of Rusty Sneiderman outside a Dunwoody day care.
The defense motion to interview potential jurors individually was granted by Adams.
Neuman's statement to police came roughly six weeks after Sneiderman's death. The focus shifted to the Marietta engineer after investigators discovered that, one day before the shooting, Neuman rented a 2011 silver Kia Sedona matching the description of the vehicle seen fleeing the scene.
Andrea Sneiderman had also told police that Neuman, her former boss at GE Energy, made unwanted advances toward her.
Neuman was arrested by Dunwoody police hours after the Jan. 4 interview in question commenced. Defense attorneys argued that investigators mishandled that inquiry.
Neuman's trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 17 in DeKalb County Superior Court.
