The Johns Creek City Council has approved a change in an agreement with state highway officials that allows it to accept $100,000 in federal funds to cover the engineering costs of widening Abbotts Bridge Road.

The council approved a supplemental project framework agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation so that it can accept the additional $100,000. “The proposed amendment shifts the cost share – reducing the local funds required and increasing the federal funding for the project,” staff said in a report to the council.

The funding covers the concept-design phase of widening Abbotts Bridge from Parsons Road to Primrose Parkway, staff said. The engineering cost is about $1.1 million. Before, the city had $800,000 in federal funds lined up; now, it’s $900,000. The city’s local match will be $232,856.
