Johns Creek tentatively plans to begin a year-long project in September to improve a one-mile stretch of Abbotts Bridge Road (Ga. 120) between Jones Bridge and Parsons roads.

The Public Works Department will widen Abbotts Bridge and add a center turn lane, officials said. Plans also call for landscaped medians and a 10-foot-wide pedestrian trail on each side of the road.

The project is to be completed by the fall of 2017, weather permitting. It is part of a series of four projects planned for Ga. 120 (Abbotts Bridge and Kimball Bridge roads) by Johns Creek and the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The upgraded Ga. 120, from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett County, through Johns Creek, to State Bridge Road on the Alpharetta border, is to be finished in 2022 if funds allow.
