The Johns Creek City Council has awarded a $289,989 construction contract to upgrade two traffic signals on Old Alabama Road.

American Lighting and Signalization Inc. submitted the lowest of four bids for the work, staff said in a report to the council.

Signals on mast arms will be installed on Old Alabama at Newtown Park/Fire Station and at Haynes Bridge Road. The work is part of a city program to replace span-wire signals with the mast arm types, as the latter “are more durable, able to hold video and detection equipment and are aesthetically pleasing,” staff said.

American Lighting has 270 days to complete the project, staff said.
