The Johns Creek City Council has awarded an expanded, $524,958 contract to E.R. Snell Contractors for asphalt repairs to local streets.

The council heard a recommendation at a January work session for $440,454 in repairs including patching for Jones Bridge and West Morton roads and Medlock Crossing Parkway, according to a staff agenda report. Council members asked that Buice and Old Alabama roads be added to the project list, increasing the total contract cost closer to the $525,000 budgeted for asphalt work.

The contract calls on Snell to remove problem pavement with a milling machine, stabilize the road base and patch the area using Hot Mix Asphalt, staff said. It also requires pavement-edge repairs, removing damaged or distressed edges and installing a new, two-foot-wide pavement edge with striping.

The contractor will have 90 days to complete the work.
