The Johns Creek City Council has approved a $243,297 construction contract to Tople Construction Co. for improvements to two intersections on McGinnis Ferry Road.

A “Florida T” – a three-way intersection that provides deceleration and acceleration lanes for vehicles turning left – will be created at McGinnis Ferry and Sargent roads.

A right-turn lane will be added from Johns Creek Parkway onto McGinnis Ferry, allowing two through lanes to cross the latter street.

Tople submitted the lowest bid of seven for the work and was the unanimous choice of the city’s evaluation committee, according to documents in the agenda package for Monday’s Council meeting.

Johns Creek originally intended to bid the two projects separately, but lack of bidder interest in the Sargent Road work prompted officials to combine to two jobs into a single contract, staff said.
