The city of Johns Creek is moving to expand its park system.

City manager Warren Hutmacher announced at Monday night’s council meeting the city intends to contract for two tracts of land on Morton Road near State Bridge Road. The city would spend $640,00 for the roughly 4.5 acres now owned by Georgia Power and a private entity.

Hutmacher said the city looks to create a pocket park for neighborhood residents. He said although no determination’s been mad one what amenities it would include, development costs would run in excess of $1 million. The council’s set to consider the contract proposals in mid-June.

Also Monday night, the council earmarked $150,000 from contingency funds for intersection improvements at Jones Bridge and McGinnis Ferry roads.
