Johns Creek, working with Emory Johns Creek Hospital, is encouraging residents to “Walk With a Doc” in a program that brings doctors and patients together.

The first walk is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Newtown Park. The walks will continue on the second Saturday of each month.

Each walk will feature a different health topic, and walkers will have an opportunity to ask questions one-on-one with the participating physician. The first walk will be hosted by Dr. Maria Piraner, director of the Center for Breast Care at Emory Johns Creek.

The walk coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Piraner will talk about the importance of early detection, prevention and tips to stay healthy.

WWAD is a national non-profit that encourages healthy physical activity in people of all ages and to reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle, officials said. Information: https://bit.ly/2zsm2EH
