The restoration of the Rogers Bridge – now a spindly frame across the Chattahoochee River, but to be restored to carry pedestrians and bicyclists between Johns Creek and Duluth – is the subject of public information meetings in the two cities later this month.

The first meeting is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. March 28 at Johns Creek City Hall, 12000 Findley Road. It is an open house, and while no formal presentation is planned, city staff from Johns Creek and Duluth as well as design consultants will be on hand answer questions and take public comments.

The second meeting, also an informational open house, is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 30 at Duluth City Hall, 3167 Main St. The bridge project is a partnership of the two cities, Fulton and Gwinnett counties and the Atlanta Regional Commission.

The steel bridge was built around 1900 and closed to traffic in the 1970s because of safety concerns. It has no floor, but in recent years, it has carried a pipeline across the Chattahoochee.
