Shortly after noon Thursday, Peter Yau and his 5-year-old daughter Kailey donned their coats, gloves and hats and stepped out onto the cold, wet pavement.

For nearly three days, they’d been held up in their Bellemont Farms subdivision on Henley Place and now it was time to venture out.

“Cabin fever,” he laughed as they descended a hill and headed towards Bell Road in Johns Creek. “She’s been home since, what, Tuesday?”

Yau, an IT consultant, who works from home, said Wednesday’s snowfall provided a snowy hill on which to play and though he delighted in seeing his little girl’s face light up as she swooped downward in a laundry basket, he was happy to see the white stuff begin to melt away.

Just maybe, he said, things will finally get back to normal.

For the Yaus that won’t likely happen until Tuesday, when little Kailey returns to Shakerag Elementary.

“I’m in kindergarten,” she said, proudly.
