A Lilburn restaurant known for buckets of seafood and crab bibs did not make the grade, for the second time in less than two years, in its latest health inspection.

Joe's Crab Shack, located at 4300 Stone Mountain Highway, received a failing health score of 64/U during its routine inspection Jan. 21, according to Georgia Department of Human Resources records.

The state's health inspector observed employees handling dirty dishes and then clean dishes without washing their hands, putting dishes away with dried food debris and keeping food kept at improper temperatures, according to the report.

In addition, the health inspector deducted points due to the person in charge not having answers to questions about the health policy, according to the report.

According to Channel 2 Action News, the restaurant posted its failing score for public view this week, and management at the restaurant refused to comment about corrections that will be made to update its failing score.

“The health of our patrons and employees is of utmost importance to all of us at Joe’s Crab Shack, and we took immediate action to ensure every aspect of the restaurant is now completely safe and entirely up to code.” David Miller, regional vice president of Joe’s Crab Shack, wrote in a statement to the news station.

The results of a reinspection have not yet been posted.
