Jenkins resigns from Sandy Springs City Council
Sandy Springs council member Ashley Jenkins has announced that she is stepping down to pursue a career in the travel industry.
Jenkins' resignation was effective last Friday. She has been a member of the council since Sandy Springs' incorporation in 2005.
"It has been the greatest honor of my life to represent and serve the residents of Sandy Springs since 2005,” Jenkins said in a statement. “I also have had the honor of getting to know many of you personally and to know your devotion to the City. The City of Sandy Springs has made incredible strides since the beginning. I am confident that my fellow elected officials will continue to make Sandy Springs a model city for outsourcing and to continue to be fiscally prudent with the budget.”
Mayor Eva Galambos and the City Council will decide on the date and fees for a special election to fill the District Four vacancy at their regularly scheduled meeting next Tuesday. A special election will be called since more than 12 months are left in the unexpired term.
