The Forsyth County Schools is seeking input on a possible student meal policy change.

Food and Nutrition Services recommends middle and high school students be allowed to charge one meal. District officials said that would cover cases where the account monitoring system reflects an out-of-date balance, or where a parent knows the child’s account needs replenishing, but upload delays keep the money from being available in time for lunch.

Officials say by allowing charging, students would both get an alternative to a smaller “courtesy meal’ and find out about their balance.
