A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. will examine all aspects of the Cobb County Police Department, including policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.

As a part of the on-site assessment, the public is invited to offer comments at a public information session at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cobb County Police Precinct 5, 4640 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs.

Those who cannot attend the meeting, but would like to provide comments to the assessment team, may do so by calling 770-499-4123 from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The assessment team also will review written materials, interview individuals and visit offices - all to verify that the Cobb Police Department meets the commission’s national state-of-the-art standards as a part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation.

Comments at the public meeting or on the phone must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards.

Those standards are available for review at Cobb Police Department headquarters, 140 North Marietta Parkway, Marietta.

Appointments: 770-499-3874.
