A man was flown to the hospital after he and his family, including two children, were injured in a head-on car crash in Canton on Tuesday afternoon.

Michael Insalaca was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after “complaining he had no feeling from his waist down,” Cherokee County fire and emergency services spokesman Tim Cavender said.

Cherokee County sheriff’s Lt. Jay Baker said Insalaca had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Insalaca was one of five people injured after a Buick Enclave struck their Kia Optima on Ga. 20 near Eagles Nest Drive.

Authorities said Jesus Arrellano, 40, of Canton, was driving eastbound in the Enclave when it crossed the center line and struck the Optima head-on, Baker said.

Insalaca’s niece and nephew were taken by ambulance to Scottish Rite Hospital, Cavender said. The 10-year-old boy possibly had a broken right ankle and the 5-year-old girl complained of stomach pain. Their names were not released.

Jean Insalaca, 64, who was seated in the back with the children, was taken to Kennestone Hospital with visible injuries, Baker said. The injuries for Charles Insalaca, 66, were not given.

Officials did not know the exact relationship of those in the Optima.

Arrellano did not have any injuries, Cavender said. No charges have been filed.
