May 6, 2013

Authorities have released the names of the three people killed when a train collided with their car in Toccoa on Friday night.

The deceased are Areale Leigh Nunn, 22, of Austell; Erich Boecklbauer, 23, of Austell; and Crystal Crews, 20, of Kennesaw, Stephens County coroner Christopher Stephens told Channel 2 Action News on Monday.

All three died when a train T-boned the 2008 Mazda outside a subdivision on Grant Smith Road around 9:45 p.m. Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the car was attempting to go through an unprotected railroad crossing that was marked only with a stop sign.

No one was hurt on the train, which was traveling to Washington, D.C., from New Orleans.
