Six people were injured Monday in a school bus wreck in Newton County.

Georgia State Patrol was on scene in front of Oak Hill Elementary School where a parent pulled her car out in front of the bus carrying high school students, Newton County school officials said.

The driver of the first vehicle was ejected from her car and taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, State Patrol officials told AM 750 WSB News Talk Radio and now 95.5 FM.

The incident happened near the intersection of Richard’s Chapel Road and Ga. 212.

The parent, who had just dropped off a child, was critically injured. That parent’s car struck another vehicle, injuring the two inside, authorities said.

Three of the students on the bus were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, officials said. All of the injured students were treated and released, Channel 2 Action News reported.

There was no word on whether charges would be filed in the crash, Channel 2 said.
