Last week, Suwanee police got a call from a worried wife.

Her husband, a 74-year-old diabetic, had gone for a walk and not come back. He'd been gone for nearly two hours. She'd tried looking for him, but to no avail.

What happened next earned the praise of city officials. According to Suwanee's official Facebook page:

"Upon arrival at the home and receiving all the pertinent information about the situation, Officer [Clint] Latham reported the information via radio to Corporal Simon Byun, who then directed other officers to join Officer Latham in searching the surrounding area.

Officer Latham discovered the man during the search, face down in the creek bed but breathing. After removing the man from the creek bed, Officer Latham notified dispatch and his fellow officers that he had located the missing man, and that he was breathing but unresponsive.

Corporal Byun arrived on the scene and helped carry the victim back to his backyard, where they were met by Emergency Medical Services, who took over the care of the victim."

In the Facebook post, Latham was quoted as saying he was "happy to help, and glad it came to a happy ending." Byun echoed the sentiment.

“I know the community appreciates all that we do," he said, "but for us, it’s our duty – our passion and our profession to help those in need."
