An Atlanta City Council committee has signed off on a plan that would make up to $500,000 available to an affordable housing group to redevelop four houses in the city’s Pittsburgh neighborhood.

The Community Development/Human Resources Committee on Tuesday approved a resolution authorizing the mayor’s office to contract with Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership Inc. to redevelop the homes, according to a committee agenda packet. The measure goes to the full Council on Sept. 6.

The four dwellings are existing, vacant, single-family homes owned by the Fulton County/City of Atlanta Land Bank Authority. They will be transferred to the Neighborhood Development Partnership to be renovated and sold.

The money for the effort will be drawn from a $1 million award from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs HOME Investment Partnership Program. That program is for the rehab of nine single-family homes in the Pittsburgh neighborhood, and requires units to be sold or rented to households at or below 80 percent of the area median income.
