A fire heavily damaged a home and destroyed five motorcycles and an SUV on Thursday evening in Buford.

The fire in the 2000 block of Holland Park Drive was concentrated in the single-story home's garage area and the attic above it, Gwinnett County fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.

A man suffered a minor burn injury trying to put out the blaze with a portable fire extinguisher, Rutledge said. He reportedly had been working on a motorcycle in the garage minutes earlier.

A firefighter is all right after being evaluated at the scene for symptoms of a heat-related illness, Rutledge said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
