The start of school is weeks away, but some Georgia families won't be able to afford the basic classroom necessities.

Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless wants to help. The Atlanta nonprofit will hold its Annual Back-to-School Jamboree from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at Turner Field, 755 Hank Aaron Drive in the orange parking lot.

Attendees can also receive health screenings and clothing and participate in empowerment workshops, activities and entertainment. The event is free. Children will receive backpacks and school supplies.

To make a donation, please visit www.hoseafeedthehungry.com. Or bring school supplies such as pencils, paper, rulers and T-180 calculators to 1035 Donnelly Ave.
