The Holly Springs City Council has approved a special event permit for a Fourth of July festival and fireworks at Harmony on the Lakes.

The event is set for 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4, featuring food and beer vendors, music and a fireworks show by East Coast Pyrotechnics, according to the permit application by Jan Samuel, activity director for Harmony on the Lakes.

“East Coast will shoot the fireworks from the back of the clubhouse over the tree area,” Samuel said. “Residents will be located at Observation Park. The festival-like environment will be held at Observation Park. The band ‘Wet Jeans’ will play music at the gazebo from 6 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m.”

Possible vendors include Johnny’s Pizza, Reformation Beer, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Kona Ice and Dr. Ollie Evans (popcorn). Glow sticks will be given away free, and there will be face painting for the kids. Samuel said the organizers are working on a bus shuttle through the neighborhood to bring people to the fireworks display.
