The Holly Springs City Council has approved a $274,090 design contract for the widening and reconstruction of Holly Springs Parkway and Rabbit Hill Road.

According to a project proposal from the Braselton-based engineering and construction firm of BM&K, Holly Springs (also known as Main Street) from the Toonigh Church of God to just north of Rabbit Hill will be designed as a four-lane road with curb and gutter, a five-foot sidewalk, raised 20-foot grass median, triple concrete box culvert and traffic signal at Rabbit Hill.

Rabbit Hill, from Holly Springs to the I-575 bridge, will be a two-lane road with curb and gutter and a 5-foot sidewalk.

BM&K’s $274,090 fee is for preliminary engineering only. The firm estimates the total project cost, including engineering and construction, would be $2.2 million for Holly Springs and $847,738 for Rabbit Hill.
