The law firm Holland & Knight's charitable foundation is now accepting essays for its annual scholarship contest. The competition focuses on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and challenges youth to reflect on his ideals, the foundation said.

The contest is open to high school juniors and seniors in public schools in Atlanta and DeKalb County. Students must be U.S. citizens to be eligible to participate, and the entry deadline is Jan. 14.

Students interested in participating can visit the Holland & Knight Dream Scholarship Essay Contest web site for contest rules. Winning essays will receive these scholarships: $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place.
