Metro Atlantans hitting the road for the holiday weekend will be paying about 13 cents a gallon more for gas than last Memorial Day.

Friday’s average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.58, up 7 cents from a week ago and 19 cents more than a month ago, according to atlantagasprices.com, a website that tracks what we pay to fill our tanks.

A year ago, the metro average was $3.45.

The lowest metro prices reported by the website early Friday were $3.27 at a Chevron in Canton and $3.29 at a Canton Texaco.

Statewide, the cheapest gas Friday was in the Augusta area, where multiple stations had regular unleaded priced between $3.11 and $3.14 a gallon.

Motorists headed down I-75 toward Florida might want to top off their tanks in the Macon area, where several stations were charging $3.20.

The national average Friday was $3.68.
