A hit-and-run suspect was struck by another vehicle while trying to cross I-85 in northeast Atlanta early Saturday, police said.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said that according to witnesses, Terrance D. McGee, 20, allegedly clipped another vehicle on I-85 southbound near Ga. 400, causing the other vehicle so spin out.

McGee left the scene, but “McGee’s vehicle either stopped running or he stopped it in the emergency lane of I-85 southbound just before the Connector,” Jones said.

“McGee got out of the vehicle, walked across the southbound lanes of traffic, jumped the median wall and was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross the northbound I-85 lanes of traffic,” Jones said.

McGee was hospitalized in stable condition with fractures, according to Jones. He faces numerous traffic charges, she said.
