Hispanic Labor Day March

Some 100 people marched from Centennial Olympic Park to Woodruff Park Monday, September 6, 2010 in the Hispanic Labor Day March sponsored by the Coalition of Hispanic Americans Making Progress, Inc. or C.H.A.M.P. The march was organized to show appreciation and pride for Hispanic's significant economic contributions to the State of Georgia through their hard work.

Cathy Alterman, C.F.O. of the organization was commended by her Rabbi, Steven Lebow (who spoke at the rally) of Temple Kol Emeth in Marietta as spearheading the organization and being its founder. Alterman who is a member of the synagogue said the synagogue is not officially affiliated with the organization but is supportive of its goals.

Sarai Chavira-10 of Alpharetta listens to the speakers at Woodruff Park Monday. Organizers of the parade and rally wanted emphasize the positive contributions of Hispanics to the state. Balloons, various Latin American flags and signs denoting facts and bullets about Hispanic workers and their contributions to the economic fabric of the US were held by participants.
