Hiram residents will decide Nov. 7 whether or not to approve a homestead exemption.

Three questions on the ballot concern providing the homestead exemption for:

  • $40,000 of the assessed value of homes for city residents.
  • $55,000 of the assessed value of homes for city residents who are 65 years of age or older.
  • full value of the assessed value of homes for city residents who are 70 years of age or older.

Voting will take place at The Events Place, 855 Hiram Douglasville Highway, Hiram. The city will not have a general election on Nov. 7 since only incumbents qualified as candidates. They are Jeff Cole for Post 3, Derrick Battle for Post 4 and Kathy Carter for Post 5.
