The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted Jan. 10 to recommend approval for a conditional use request regarding a 15 acres of land on Collier Road just off Old Conyers Road in Stockbridge.
The request by Berean Christian Church of Stone Mountain is to allow three tracts to be combined into one for use as a church facility. The main existing building on the site has been used as a church for about 30 years, according to county staff, and the applicant has purchased two adjacent properties so that 300-350 parking spaces can be added. The extra parking will be done by September if the county approves the request, a church representative stated.
The church has two other campuses in Stone Mountain and Gwinnett County, and church officials expect the Stockbridge location to fill up quickly once the improvements are completed.
