An attempt to put a Dollar General store on a site in southeast Henry County was stymied at the Dec. 16 Board of Commissioners meeting when the board voted unanimously to deny a rezoning request for the property. A number of local residents attended the meeting, many holding up signs against the rezoning throughout the discussion, and they applauded and cheered loudly when the vote to deny was approved. The 5-acre site in question is north of Old Jackson Road and south of Leguin Mill Road.
