Henry County has moved closer to creating a Bethlehem Road Interchange to improve traffic in the area.

In a 5-1 decision, the Henry Commission agreed earlier this week to begin soliciting engineering proposals for the project. The interchange, on Interstate 75 south of Ga. 155, is an approved county SPLOST IV project.

A feasibility study and an interchange justification report has already been completed for the project.

“The next step for this project is to design the new interchange which will be located near Bethlehem Road,” Roque Romero, SPLOST transportation project director, said at the commission meeting.

Henry has struggled to improve its infrastructure to keep up with the county’s increasing traffic because of its exploding growth.
