Henry County leaders and those of the south metro community’s four cities are calling for a day of prayer this Sunday.

In a Thursday proclamation, the group of leaders asked the residents of Henry, Stockbridge, McDonough, Hampton and Locust Grove to pray and fast April 5 as the nation struggles with the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 5,400 people have been confirmed to have the disease in Georgia and 176 have died as of early Friday. Nationally, around 6,100 have died and there are more than 245,000 confirmed cases.

The Henry action asks residents to “pray for those on the front lines including our courageous first responders, medical professionals, public health officials and all other dedicated individuals who are working tirelessly to protect all of us from COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of our communities.”
