A federal lawsuit involving the Henry County Board of Education and three of its members has been settled.

It was filed in 2018 by Timothy Gadson, alleging racial discrimination after the board’s 2017 offer to make him district superintendent was rescinded. The board stated at the time that the decision was due to Gadson’s excessive compensation demands. The school district issued a statement in late June that said its officials had been notified of a settlement, which was being handled by the district’s insurance company and its attorneys. The statement also noted that board members Josh Hinton, Pam Nutt and Holly Cobb had been dismissed from the lawsuit and were not parties to the settlement.

Gadson now works as an associate superintendent for a Minnesota school district, according to its website.
