The Henry County Board of Education voted July 10 to rescind an offer to Timothy Gadson to be the district’s new superintendent. After a special called meeting, most of which was conducted in executive session, the board voted 3-2 to withdraw its offer to Gadson, who two weeks earlier was named the district’s lone finalist for the position.

Board chair Pam Nutt said Gadson’s contract demands “far exceeded what has been traditionally extended to previous superintendents by way of salary and compensation packages.” The board will begin the search process again. Current superintendent Rodney Bowler plans to retire at the end of September.
