The Henry County Board of Education adopted a $378 million proposed budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year after an initial presentation was made at the April 9 school board study session.

That figure represents a balanced budget with no use of cash reserves and an expected local tax digest growth of 5 percent. It would be nearly $100 million above the budget from five years ago. Local tax digest revenue is near the same value as in 2009, according to a staff report. The projected per-student expenditure for the 2019 fiscal year is $9,022 based on 41,948 students.

Another budget hearing is scheduled for May 14, after which the final budget will be considered for adoption.
