The Georgia Supreme Court declined to halt a referendum that could create a new city of Eagle’s Landing within Henry County.
Stockbridge city officials sued to stop the action, and appealed to the state’s highest court after failing to get satisfaction in Henry County Superior Court. A final decision by the court regarding the constitutionality of the legislation paving the way for the referendum has not been made.
In a separate federal suit filed by a bond company, a judge also refused to issue an injunction on the referendum but stated that the new city, if established, will be responsible for its share of Stockbridge’s municipal bond debt.
