A new sensory room has been installed at the Locust Grove Recreation Center for special-needs children, particularly those with autism. It features sensory lights, a projector system, an aquarium, sensory walls, a music and reading nook and an area for rest and relaxation, according to officials with the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department.

The county’s therapeutic recreation coordinator, Terry Nash, said it will be used for children and adults during summer camp and throughout the year, allowing those who may have trouble functioning in a gym full of kids the chance to play and learn.
