Henry County ranks tenth in the state of Georgia with a 64.6 percent response rate for this year’s U.S. Census, county officials announced recently.

That rate is higher than several surrounding counties, and Henry County leaders are encouraged by the response but want to see it continue to grow in the coming weeks. A higher census count in a given community means more federal funding for programs such as education, healthcare and funding for infrastructure and road improvements, according to the county’s statement.

The information is also used to redraw legislative districts and determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives.
