One of Henry County’s four-legged crime fighters was lost recently in an automobile accident.

According to officials with the Henry County Police Department, a K-9 unit was conducting traffic enforcement on I-75 south of Locust Grove when the vehicle collided with a tractor trailer. Both officers were wearing seat belts and were treated for minor injuries and release. The driver of the tractor trailer was flown to Atlanta for evaluation. The five-year-old Belgian Malinois known as K-9 Thorr was transported to a veterinarian, where he was examined and ultimately determined to have suffered significant injuries and had to be put down.

The dog had been serving with HCPD for about six months.
