The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its May 9 regular meeting to approve a conditional use request and a variance request for a 4.3-acre piece of property at 3025 Jonesboro Road, across from Mitchell Road near the Dutchtown school complex.

The requests were made by the McIntosh Trail Community Service Board of Griffin for a personal care home. Such a home is permissible in a residential zoning district with up to four clients at a time, but the conditional use was needed to allow six clients at a time. The variance was requested to reduce the road frontage setback from 60 feet to 30 feet.

County staff said this setback would be reduced anyway sometime in the future when that section of Jonesboro Road is widened.
