The newly constructed portion of Campground Road was scheduled to open Aug. 20, weather permitting, and Henry County officials issued an announcement with several traffic advisories as well as a map.
The east-west roadway begins at the intersection of Jodeco Road and Peach Drive, moves west across Hwy. 42 and continues to a new tie-in to the existing Campground Road near its intersection with Brannan Road. As part of the opening of the new roadway, a traffic signal at the new intersection with Hwy. 42 was scheduled to be activated the same day as well.
Plans call for the old location of Campground Road just east of Hwy. 42 to be barricaded once traffic has been shifted to the new alignment location of Campground Road.
