The Henry County Board of Education voted Oct. 24 to name Mary Elizabeth Davis as the next superintendent of schools.

She currently serves as the chief academic officer for Cobb County Public Schools and will replace retiring superintendent Rodney Bowler. Davis previously served in Cobb County as an assistant superintendent overseeing various instructional departments while also serving as a teacher earlier in her career and tenure with the district. She also has past experience in Gwinnett County.

Her first official day on the job will be Nov. 8. Davis will be the fifth superintendent in Henry County in the past decade.
